Ayo is a black, queer woman who is a skilled warrior and leader of an all-female special forces unit. When people cosplay as Ayo, it helps people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community feel represented in a positive and strong way. Another reason why cosplaying as Ayo is important is because it helps to break down stereotypes and promote positive representation of African culture. 

The Black Panther movie and its characters were inspired by African culture and tradition, and Ayo's costume reflects that. By cosplaying as Ayo, you can showcase African-inspired fashion and promote appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of the continent. Making Ayo Black Panther Cosplay Outfit 

To create a cosplay outfit of Ayo from Black Panther, depending on your size how much fabric will be needed is on an individual basis so be sure to measure yourself first anyone at the fabric or craft store will be happy to help:

Materials.

Red spandex or athletic fabric 

Black leather or faux leather 

Black thread 

Black boots 

Black gloves 

Belt 

Prop spear 


Tools.

Sewing machine or needle and thread 

Scissors 

Measuring tape 

Pins 

Marker or chalk 


Directions.

Start by creating Ayo's red uniform. Use a pattern or create your own by measuring your body and cutting the red fabric to fit. Sew the pieces together, making sure to leave openings for the arms, neck, and legs. 

Cut out black leather or faux leather strips to create the intricate detailing on the uniform. Use a marker or chalk to draw the shapes and then cut them out. 

Sew the strips onto the red fabric using black thread by hand or using your sewing machine you can be creative and use a straight stitch a zigzag stitch or any decorative stitches.

Create Ayo's gloves by cutting out black fabric in the shape of gloves and sewing them together. Add the same black leather or faux leather detailing to the gloves as you did with the body above.

Make Ayo's belt by cutting out a strip of black leather or faux leather and sewing it into a loop. Add the same intricate detailing as on the uniform and attach it around your waist. 

Wear black boots to complete the outfit. Lastly, create a Wakandan spear prop by cutting out the shape of the spear from foam or wood and painting it with metallic silver and gold paint. 

With these steps, you should be able to create a detailed and accurate Ayo cosplay outfit from Black Panther. Wakanda forever!
