Madagascar's 62 Mile High Razor Spiked Forest

The minuscule chameleon, which is less than an inch long from nose to tail and can sit on a human thumbnail, lives in Madagascar's 62 mile high Tsingy Razor Spiked Forest. Tsingy forest Tsingy de Bemaraha is a Strict Nature Reserve since 1927. Strict Nature Reserves are protected areas set aside for nature conservation and research established by law on government-owned lands. Tsingy is located in the Melaky Region of Mahajanga Madagascar on 375,600 acres or 152,000 hectares of land. The minuscule chameleon which is less than an inch long from nose to tail is a species only found in Tsingy. During the Late Cretaceous Period, India broke away from Madagascar. Madagascar is around 587,041 sq km or 226,657 sq miles in size which is the world's fourth-largest island.  Madagascar’s isolation in the Indian Ocean is the reason 90% of its animal and plant life is found only on its island. Melayu Cape Pickled Fish Recipe

South African special occasion dish,  Melayu Cape or  Cape Malay Pickled Fish gets its flavor from ten herbs and spices along with a 24-hour soak in a spicy curry brine. Cape Malay Pickled Fish Cape Malay Pickled Fish Recipe Ingredients: 2 pounds filleted yellowtail or any firm white fish 2 cups white-wine vinegar 1 cup water 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 teaspoon ground ginger 3 tablespoons ground curry powder 1 teaspoon ground paprika 1 teaspoon salt 5 whole black peppercorns 5 whole coriander seeds 4 large onions finely sliced 6 dried bay leaves 2 hot peppers 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/3 cup vegetable oil Directions: Fry fish in hot oil until cooked and drain on paper towel. Combine the vinegar, water, sugar, and spices in a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the onions, cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes.  Drain the pickling liquid into a clean saucepan and bring to the boil. Mix a little

Golden blanket Aza the Shady Friend African Folklore Aza received a prestigious invitation, to visit his old friend chief Basi in a faraway village to celebrate the birth of his first child. Aza is well treated because he is a friend of the chief, and he is given one of the best rooms in the chief’s home to rest after his long journey.  In his room, a hand woven golden blanket was stored. The blanket was to be presented to the chief during the feast at tomorrow’s festival celebrating the chiefs’ first-born son. Aza discovers the blanket and decides such a fine blanket should belong to his son.  He takes the golden blanket, stuffs it in his travel bag and leaves the village, telling the people that urgent business requires him

Madagascar is the 4th large island in the world and is located in the Indian Ocean supporting a unique biology, about 90% of its plants and animals are found nowhere else on earth.

Composed of 155 islands, Seychelles is Africa's smallest country. By far the largest island is Mahe, home to about 90% of the population and the site of its capital city of Victoria.

Cabo Verde has a strategic location 310 miles or 500 km from the west coast of Africa near major north-south sea routes; important communications station; important sea and air refueling site.

Africa is surrounded by water but by definition Africa is not an island because Africa is a continent. Continents can not be considered islands because of their size and also by historic definition since many people who study geography define islands and continents as two different things.
