Sweet Couscous a Twist on a traditional North African Dish

Couscous is pasta even though it looks like rice. Couscous is stocked in most grocery stores on the rice and pasta isles. Instant and non-instant varieties are available. Couscous is a neutral favored dish that combines with just about every ingredient imaginable. African food is unique. Pinning down African food cuisine is impossible since there are thousands of ethnic groups across Africa which influences African food. 

Sweet Couscous

Ingredients:
2 cups low fat milk

Sweet Couscous

2 tablespoons honey
3 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups dry couscous
1/3 cup chopped dried apricots
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup dried cranberries

1/3 cup pineapples
Directions:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, honey and cinnamon. As soon as it comes to a boil, stir in the couscous. Turn off the heat, cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in the cranberries, pineapples, apricots and raisins. Serve warm.
