Replace Relish, Mustard, Ketchup and Salsa

Use Blatjang in place of relish, mustard, ketchup and salsa. South Africa is famous for their Blatjang. Blatjang is a sort of combination pickle and preserve. Blatjang is usually made rather sweetly and very hot, and eaten with grilled meat.


Use Apricot Blatjang in place of 

relish, mustard, ketchup and salsa

Apricot Blatjang


Ingredients:

1/4 cup white vinegar

1 cup dried chopped apricots

¼ cup finely chopped walnuts

2 teaspoons ground ginger

1 teaspoon allspice

2 tablespoons dried onions

Salt and pepper to taste


Directions:

Soak apricots in a large bowl with 2 cups of water for 1 hour. Add all ingredients in a large pot and simmer 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Slowly pour into jars. Allow to cool on the counter.
